Since its formation in 1969, the UK’s Open University (OU) has been an innovator in assessment, including online and computer-assisted assessment.
In this talk, I shall give an overview of mathematics e-assessment at the OU focussing on the last 15 years.
I shall describe how e-assessment has grown from early experiments to a robust system delivered at scale, which largely utilises the Moodle quiz engine and the STACK computer-algebra-based e-assessment system.
